
The GSMA Global Mobile Awards is the premier international showcase of product, service and creative excellence for the mobile industry; awards include a wide range of categories that are relevant for players of all sizes in the mobile value chain. In 2009, Innovation takes center stage. As a category of the Global Mobile Awards, we introduce the Mobile Innovation 'Grand Prix' for promising entrepreneurs, small and medium sized companies developing and introducing innovative products and services.
The Mobile Innovation Grand Prix category is specifically designed for start-ups, small and medium sized organisations that are developing innovative mobile products or services and seek industry (operator/vendor/VC) support in order to achieve and/or sustain market deployment(s).
The Mobile Innovation Grand Prix category differs from other Global Mobile Award categories in that it's a year-round process with several stages of judging through the year, including physical presentations at associated events.
During each regional event, two overall winners who will win a trip to Barcelona to compete as a Finalist for the Mobile Innovation Grand Prix Cup, at the world’s largest mobile industry event, the Mobile World Congress in February 2010.
Each tournament identifies companies through those that know the industry the best; we look to the industry experts and pull from an broad array of sources: Operators, Venture Capital firms, Industry suppliers, etc. We'll gather our global finalists from partner programs, such as, Qualcomm's Q-Prize*, Mobile Innovation will have open call for entries for the following regional tournaments:
