This is transforming what was once referred to as "machine-to-machine" into one of the most innovative and dynamic areas of industry development. What can the mobile industry learn from players in other, more open environments? What impact would this approach have on the traditional mobile ecosystem? A leading executive from the Internet world will deliver an opening address to cover what opportunities lie within a connection to the developer community and the ways in which mobile industry can support the development of this collaboration. 10.00 - 10.30 Global Mobile Awards 2010 – Mobile Innovation Grand Prix EMEA Tournament Top Innovator Pitch Presentations The final category in the EMEA tournament of the 2010 Global Mobile Awards, Mobile Innovation Grand Prix recognises an important growth area for industries across the world – green technology. Our final two presenters will pitch to win the category: Most Innovative Product Enabling a Greener World 10.30 - 10.45 Break 10.45 - 11.45 Panel – "One API" In order to engage with the growing community of truly creative application developers the mobile industry has recognised the need to open up their networks. The move to standardise API’s and interfaces within and across operator networks is being championed by the GSMA as one approach to achieve this. Representatives from the developer community, operator community and the Internet community will participate in this panel discussion to develop the most effective approach for the One API initiative. • What are the different implementations strategies to allow the developers access to these standard API's? • Which API’s are most valuable to developers? • What are the different levels of information needed in terms of the operator & developer relationship? 11.45 – 12.15 Keynote Interview – "Mobile’s Role in a Consumer Society" Contemporary technological developments in mobile technology have transformed the handset from a communication device into a lifestyle tool. One element of this transition is the ability to manage financial transactions on your mobile phone. The ability to use a mobile as a wallet has many positive attributes including increased security and first time access to financial services for consumers in developing markets.
